Unemployment: In addition, the Department of Workforce Development (DWD), has suspended rules needed in order to apply for unemployment. Find out if you’re eligible here.

SNAP Benefits

No Questions Asked Food Pantry: Located at
1125 Spruce St. near Fountain Square. Open Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m.

Shepherd Community Center: For families who live in the 46201 and 46203 area codes and have children in the Shepherd Community Center school, daily meals are available from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. For all other families, the center offers emergency food bags every day. On Saturday the center has a food pantry from 8-9 a.m. for anyone. No documentation is required. The community center also offers financial assistance to pay rent, utilities and phone bills to those who live in the area codes. It can help those outside the area codes find an organization near them that is helping pay bills.

Indy Parks: Open to ALL kids 18 and under. Second helpings is providing sack lunches for adults. Available Monday – Friday. No registration necessary – completely FREE.

Ventanilla de Salud: The Mexican Consulate in Indianapolis works in partnership with Eskenazi Health to operate the Ventanilla de Salud program, which helps the Hispanic community in Indianapolis get access to health services, regardless of whether individuals have health insurance. Ventanilla de Salud also works to raise awareness and answer questions about how to stay protected and prevent the spread of COVID-19. To reach Ventanilla de Salud in Indianapolis, call 317-982-2248.

Grassroots Projects: Grassroots Projects provides families with diapers, wipes, clothing for children, and some grocery supplies. The organization also supplies pregnant women with newborn packages with baby hygiene products.  To learn more about services offered by the organization, call 317- 622-6940.

La Plaza: La Plaza is offering assistance for people who need help paying rent and utilities. The organization is also offering food and hygiene products for families who need it. For more information on how to get resources, call 317-890-3292.

Utilities: Citizens Energy Group is asking customers whose utility services have been turned off for non-payment to call the utility at (317) 924-3311 to have their service reconnected. Citizens will work to reconnect customers as soon as possible.

Rent Assistance: The MLK Center is one of many community centers in Indianapolis offering rent and utility assistance for anyone who lives in the areas of 21st Street south, White River, Michigan Road west, Fall Creek, Binford east and 71st and 82nd streets. The center also offers food delivery for anyone who should not or cannot leave their house. To apply, go to MLKCenterIndy.org/covid or call 317-923-4581.
