Security Officers Speak Out Honor Fallen and Injured Officers, Worry About Security Industry ![]() More than 150 security officers gathered to honor fellow officers injured and killed on the job, including Harold Long, the security officer killed on the job the day after Thanksgiving on Chicago’s southwest side. Harold Long is one of the approximately 30 to 50 security officers who are killed on the job each year in the United States, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures. After the recognition and remembrance ceremony, security officers spoke out about their fear that lack of respect for security officers is harming public safety.
