Labor Champion Governor Gretchen Whitmer is Re-elected Governor of Michigan

Governor Whitmer’s Re-election is a Victory for Labor Rights

MICHIGAN– Michigan’s working people made their voices heard at the ballot box and re-elected Gretchen Whitmer for Governor. Governor Whitmer has been a steadfast advocate for working people in her first term of office, delivering wage increases for care workers, enhancing COVID-19 protections to keep workers safe on the job, and fighting for union wages and benefits on state-funded construction projects.

“Governor Whitmer has been a partner in the fight to defend workers from race-to-the-bottom working conditions while standing on the frontline with workers fighting for living wages, strong benefits, and dignity on the job,” said Local 1 President Genie Kastrup. “She has time and time again delivered for working people across Michigan and will continue to move Michigan forward. This is a victory for working people and one worth celebrating.”
