This contract is historic – you protected your jobs by winning strong language around subcontracting AND won wage increases and strengthened pensions so you can retire with dignity. You worked all summer by attending informational meetings, rallying and marching, and talking to coworkers to build union power. Now, the Residential Division has won a contract that reflects just how essential Local 1 residential workers are – once again proving that when we FIGHT, we WIN!

Residential Division Contract Ratification Vote

On July 20 you and your Residential Division family came together to ratify your new contract with ABOMA! All summer you were clear - the Residential Division would only accept a contract that offers job security, pays fair wages, protects healthcare, and increases pension contributions so residential workers can retire with dignity. Well, ABOMA heard you and offered a contract that does just that. Congratulations on your new contract!

Residential Contract Convention

On June 29 you and your Residential Division family showed up to Roberto Clemente High School for the Residential Contract Convention! Hundreds of residential members came to see the results of the contract survey, learned more about upcoming actions, and got together with to show building owners and management that we mean business.

Javier Flores, Local 1 Executive Board Member and Residential Chief Engineer

“As a Chief Engineer, I am on call 24/7, responsible for the functionality of the building. I took advantage of the opportunities given to me and the hard work paid off. Now, as a leader in my building, I feed my guys these same opportunities, encouraging them to take classes and further their education through the training fund. I want to see them be successful and grow both in this field and as people—whether that’s for them or, like me, for the ones they love.”
