KCTV 5 News: Change to perks angers some Chiefs workers

Some Chiefs workers are upset about their new working conditions and it has nothing to do with the current NFL lockout.

As KCTV5 learned, the change is a recent decision that has ticket takers re-thinking if they want to work for the team.

For years, nearly 300 part-time workers have been watching Chiefs football for free at Arrowhead Stadium. That will no longer be the case under a new policy announced by the Chiefs.

Contract Update

Probation and Parole officers are currently voting on their contract. A grievance procedure, which will now include arbitration, was won at the table. Voting was by mail ballot and ended July 7, 2011. Contact the Union office in St. Louis for more information.

SEIU Local 1 Members Win Settlements

SEIU Local 1 in Missouri recently won two big settlements at the Kansas City Public Schools where workers who were wrongly terminated received between $30,000 and $40,000 in settlement pay.

Lobby Day in Jefferson City

SEIU Local 1 Members at the Capitol

SEIU Local 1 members took to the state capital on March 30 to urge their senators and representatives to support pro-worker legislation. Visiting most of their legislators, SEIU Local 1 members urged their elected officials to vote no on SB 1  – Right to Work, and to leave the minimum wage alone.
