One Cleaning Company Holding up Good Jobs for Houston

Contract negotiations will affect as many as 3,200 Houston janitors and their families

Houston janitors make only $7.75 an hour and have no family health insurance – even though office rental rates in Houston are almost exactly the same as rates in Chicago, where janitors make nearly twice as much.

These janitors want to bargain with their employers to secure a better future for their families and to help build a stronger economy that works for everyone.  Though they made progress when they won their first union contract in 2006, Houston janitors still live in poverty— bringing home just $12,000 a year with few benefits.

While most of the city's cleaning contactors have demonstrated that they are willing to work with the janitors, one company— Pritchard Industries— has been playing games and refusing to negotiate a fair contract. Pritchard also recently cut the pay of some workers to minimum wage, leaving them struggling to pay for basic necessities.

What should be the happiest time of the year is a time of uncertainty for Houston janitors who work for Pritchard Industries.

YOU CAN SUPPORT HOUSTON JANITORS BY CALLING PRITCHARD TODAY!

Call Peter C. Sperduti, Vice President and General Manager of Pritchard Industries in Houston, at (713) 957-1387 and ask him to commit to bargaining in good faith with the janitors.
