Climate change is responsible for everything from more frequent extreme weather events, like Hurricane Dorian, which has wreaked havoc on the Bahamas and the Southeast U.S., to increased flooding in our neighborhoods. With the climate change crisis accelerating at a rapid pace, the timing for the September 20 Global Day of Action couldn’t be any more pressing.
In Chicago, SEIU Local 1 members will come together with hundreds of allies for a youth-led march and rally on September 20 in Grant Park at 11 am, at the corner of Columbus and Roosevelt. From there, we will march together to Federal Plaza for a rally. We hope you can join us as we RISE UP for environmental justice.
Why does Local 1 support environmental justice? All people deserve to live and work in environments that do not put their health and livelihoods at risk. That’s why Local 1 is fighting at the forefront of the environmental justice movement. Together, we are working to build a wider movement that unites our fight for economic, racial, immigrant and environmental justice.
We hope to see you at the September 20 march and rally in Chicago. Please see the day’s full itinerary here:
